How to lighten dark underarms

Dark coloration of the skin in the underarms region is usually not a disease. It occurs due to some habits that gives a skin response to exposure to certain element, similar to a suntan that results from exposure to the sun’s ultraviolet rays.

Some of the causes are;

  1. Genetics
  2. Wearing too tight clothes all the time
  3. Too much shaving
  4. Excessive sweating
  5. Using poor quality deodorant
  6. Accumulation of dead skin cells
  7. Poor ventilation of underarms

But worry not, there are home remedies that are simple, safe, natural, affordable and more importantly efficient. The key word is one, EXFOLIATION.

  1. Potato

Usually lemon is the go-to ingredient for natural bleaching, but little did we know potato contains mild acidic property that present as a great natural bleacher. Unlike strong bleacher, potato will not cause skin irritation.

There are two ways to do it 1. Rub thin slices of potation on your underarms and massage for 5 minutes 2. Grate potato and squeeze, apply the essence to the underarms area. Allow it to dry for 15 minutes and rinse with lukewarm water. Repeat for 3 times a week or twice a day to make a faster improvement.

  1. Cucumber

Just like potatoes, cucumbers also have natural bleaching properties to help lighten discoloured skin.

You can simply rub thin slice of cucumber twice a day. Or extract the juice from a cucumber and mix it with a little turmeric powder and lemon juice. Apply this paste on the affected area. Leave it on for 30 minutes, and then wash it off with lukewarm water. Repeat this home remedy once daily or every other day for best results.

  1. Lemon

Lemon is a wonderful natural cleanser and bleacher as well as powerful antibacterial property. Mixing it with baking soda can make an incredible scrub which will successfully get rid of the darkness. Rub on your underarms for 2-3 minutes. You can also simply rub a lemon wedge on the skin for 10 mins and wash it off. Repeat twice a week for better result.

However, lemon tend to dry up your skin, do apply moisturize after the exercise.

  1. Coconut Oil

Coconut oil contains vitamin E that is extremely important to get rid of dark underarms. Coconut oil is very moisturizing and can work as an effective natural deodorant. Simply massage the dark underarms with coconut oil. Leave it on for 10 minutes. Wash it off lukewarm towel. Repeat two times daily.

And another thing beside exfoliation is HABIT

  1. Limit the amount of wearing super tight clothes. Love your underarms by wearing a breathable clothes material.
  2. Waxing (instead of shaving) gets rid of all the hair from the root and pull away dead skin
  3. Use a good quality natural deodorant with no chemical intervention. Use deodorant with ingredients you can pronounce.
